The Parrot

Inspiration and imitation,
Like the court without a clown.
You ask the strange and foreign
To knight you with a crown.
Yet the crown has no meaning
If all it is is words.
For what kind of a King
Holds his hands out
Like the woman feeding the birds?

How would the birds know
That the man is a King,
A leader and inspiration
That make his people sing?

You cannot inspire
Without being an inspiration.
But who is he to ask for words
That could spell the fate of a nation?
No man could possibly be crowned a king
If he has not proven his merit.
So why then have you
Crowned yourself the Parrot,
(The bird of imitation)
And asked the strange and foreign
To knight you an inspiration?

This piece questions without stimulating for me it needs to be stronger in the desire to break out of the cage.

  • You don't really want to know how many poems I've written on her prompts just to have them rejected for rhyming do you?

In fact it was one of them that inspired the contest and, really, I wasn't trying to rhyme at the time.

You have done well at this, the intermittent rhyme words well for the message you send with it. I would be curious to know whether you had a specific subject in mind when you wrote it.

There are a few points where the rhythm stumbles, but not to any major degree.

This is a good write, I wish you the best in my contest and all the best in your future writing.

    Adrian.

Wonderful write, the flow and rhyme are very good. Alittle hard on my eyes though but other than that I thought it was very good.
