I wonder where the money's gone
They say some banks are broke
Do they care for us customers?
Or is modern banking just a joke?
I saved my dough for my old age
Now it's all but bloody gone
Who's the slob that robbed me blind?
What the hell is going on?
I think the Govt'ments of all countries
Should make rules we ALL live by
Not leave it to those wealthy sods
To steal our cash,and fly.
Author notes
Is it real money or are these sods losing on just bits of paper, and the ordinary people are forced to pay real cash to bail the buggers out.

A friend told me he had lost half his retirement money. He has done nothing wrong. Why is it like this? I was so mad I had to say something, hence this poem. It is thought provoking, isn't it?

I read somewhere that an economics professor stated that modern global capitalism is very much like the pirates of the 17th century, they had rules ... but they were still ruthless bastards. I blame fractional reserve banking! I love the poem. LOL

I think I like your economics professor. My thoughts are that there are simply too many greedy bastards in powerful positions. Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it very much.

A poetic credit crunch of a poem, speaking with a lyrical plea, the angst and adversity have clarity. Where has all the paper gone, methinks that stocks and shares traded virtual reality and floated their own portfolios away before we were left with the debris dear poet. You nailed it in your author notes!

Thanks Yvette, The wealth of nations is being held by fewer and fewer individuals as time goes by, but the real value of any nation is its people. It's a great shame that those in power don't realise this and give the people a fair deal.

And the speaker please
Step up to the Podium Bob. straightn those crooks out. All our voice muct be heard before we are all just low class , Oh my go get them
-

It would be great to step up to the microphone and have half the world listening. Us ordinary people should have our say, and those at the top should listen. Without us they are but small spacks of sand on a large beach.
Thanks for adding your voice.

Amen to that. I too wonder where it is and who has it and why don't they have to suffer some sort of consequences. I doubt if they even have one ioda of guilt. I have thought for years they were prewarning us all by talking about the baby boomers who will all retire at once. Now we see what the real plan was. Great poem by the way. lol Please write some more.

I am too old to be affected much but many friends are having to work longer to try to get back what has been lost. Where is all that lost money, some bugger must have it. Many thanks for your thoughts and comments.

A timely rant against the financial system written with a sense of humor on a very serious concern. Where has all the money gone, it's evaporated into thin air and resurfaced under the bad debt column on the balance sheet and like a discount coupon it only has value when you cash it in. We live in an amazing world filled with slight of hand and magic as money appears and disappears seemingly ut of nowhere

I can never figure out the financial system of moving bits of paper around and then saying, Oh dear, we have no money. The Govt will have to bail us out with tax payers money. Why? I heard of many who were close to retiring with cash stashed for that purpose only to be told their money is gone. I just had to write something.

Very well written. It doesn't look good for any of us mate!

No sir, it doesn't look good for anyone nearing retiring age. I would love to know where the money actually went. real banks don't just go broke, someone has all that cash, or was there any in the first place? I don't know. Thank you for taking the time to give your thoughts.

Yes, Bob. Those buggars are robbing us blind alright. I had intentions of taking early retirement because of my health at 55, but it looks like i will be working well into my late sixties because my super just won't be enough. Your poem is fitting alright for what is happening. Your poem should be sent to all these mugs in government. I loved it and i think everyone else will to. Great job, saying what we are all saying.

One of my friends said he lost half his retirement in one day. Now he's not sure what will happen with the rest. I felt so mad I had to say something.

I know a few people who've lost a lot of money due to what's been going on with banks and finance companies! Nothing is safe any more is it!

Hi Jackie, A friend of mine had half his retirement fund vanish, just like that. It's a sad state of affairs for the average bloke trying to set himself up for his twilight years.
