Evening in Spring

              Red and gold of sunset
              Peek in between the leaves
              Shafts of shining light
              Make shadows basket weaves
              Below, cool water  flows
              Often brown and chilly
              From melting winter snows.
Soon,  dark of night will come
              And stars will twinkle bright,
              I will slumber quietly
              Until soft golden dawn
              Gives way to bright sunlight.

Such peaceful beauty here in your poem, reminding me of spring in the mountains. I love particularly 'makes shadows basket weaves' and am happy to remember the play of shadows on the water at my special place on the river.

Mercedes, this was written after an all too short visit to my special place on the river. I had to get home quickly as it was almost dark and Lis would have dinner ready. Your comments give support and encouragment for which I am grateful, thank you.

Here in the'Down Under', we are enjoying a wonderful spring. It is beautiful. Our neighbor has contributed his effort to a lovely spring by cutting his hay next door and adding the smell of new mown hay to the mix. I thank you for you kind and generous comments.

That's a very lovely poem Bob I've always wanted to write one called "New Mexico nights." Perhaps one day I will.

Thanks David, I shall look forward to "New mexico Nights" with pleasant anticipation. We're having the best spring for years around our place, but the weather guys say summer is coming, hot and dry. I hope for a warm summer, not a hot one, 40 degrees plus is not nice.

Its sspring and right now everything is green and beautiful. I shall write again in late summer after a run of 40 plus temperatures. It will be a different landscape, but still beautiful. Thank you, Julie for your continuing encouragement.
