Young I was
Behind the highest Fence
A girl had ever seen
Free beyond the borders
Of a separate life
A field of wonder
Grass blowing high
Kissing our angelic face
Golden yellow liberty
A grand oak stands
Solitary and captivating
Across the great expanse
Catching up to it
Forgotten in its' shadow
Tulip of innocence
Portrait of memory
Author notes
When I was young, I would run away to the field behind my house when I was upset, angry, or just wanted to be alone. It was a very personal experience for me, and it really influenced how I see the world today. Everything was so big. That's where I accepted Christ. And there was that tree... And that flower.
