This is really beautiful, and an impressive job with just 20 words; love the picture as well. (I wonder if you would consider writing additional verses for this poem down the line.) I think that the idea here can relate to many people in many different ways. Parents watching a child go out into the world. A teacher watching a student do the same. An artist watching as someone comes and purchases a painting of his, feeling the pride that comes with it. Best of luck in the contest with this piece.
