Why am I so small ?
Said the spider to fly
the fly just shrugged his wings
he was quite prepared to die.
The spider munched and swallowed
the fly was now no more
so he packed his spider suitcase
and struck out to explore.
The spider saw a beetle
twice as big as he
he plucked up all his courage
and sliced him into three.
He ate him in an hour
then he spied a bird
he crept up right behind it
I know this sounds absurd.
The bird became his dinner
the prey now never flies
when the spider saw a mirror
he'd grown to twice his size.
Next he viewed a cat
and grabbed him by the tail
it took two days to swallow
the spider went quite pale.
Then he saw a goat
he grabbed it by the horns
down it went head first
then he ate two fawns.
The spider was enormous
he strode right into town
he picked up seven buildings
and quickly whoofed them down.
Then he saw a man
he thought he looked quite tasty
he chewed him with a grin
but was he rather hasty ?
The spider felt quite ill
his stomach felt quite loaded
he said his last goodbyes
then quietly exploded.
Author notes
You have a lot of good, serious, entries already, so I thought I'd try for a bit of humour.

Loved this one, not quite what I'm looking for but it made me smile. Thanks for entering.

I thought your tale was quite absurd,
your poem most fantastic.
Rememb'ring, somewhere, I have heard
the spider's not elastic.
