As a people we tend to not think about actions versus the punishment.
Society has set up a system to punish the offenders however the system does not work as which it was designed for. the design flaw does not lie in the legal system while there are flaws there. the biggest one is in society. we teach people they can committ and offense get probation and a fine and they can go. we have an over-crowing problem today because we have become lax in our punishment of offenders in society. we have to have harsher punishment for repeat offenders and for those which have a crime of a more hanous nature. the prison system has come away from the chain gang and from hard labor because they are scared they will be sued or wind up in trouble. i believe that this is wrong. offenders need to be punished and as a criminal justice major i see these troubles and theres no question in mhy mind as to why it is so hard for police officers to perform there jobs as required of them in society. people are more afraid of speaking out because they know that an offender may very well not get more than a slap on the wrist. we need to have a tougher penal system in the united states if we do not there will continuie to be an overcrowding problem. the reason this is also a presidential issue is because of the american tax dollars being spent to house inmates. this is creating a major problem how do you cut taxes and still give prisoners three meals a day air conditioning pay the guards and also most inmates have cable. the perisoners in prison have more than most honest hard working families i know. this is yet another reason that there is a prison population issue in america. we have told them committ a crime do the time get fed a bed tv and other than that you dont have to do anything except listen to our intructions while in your in prison.
this is my theory on the prison population problem in the united states of america.

Nice write my friend, the i know from hard personal experience, that some of the lousiest most haneous criminals in prison get released too early and go on to reoffend they are released cos the jails are too full to keep them where they belong, why?cos some people actually like to be in jail, its an easy ride for them, stick em in concrete cells and give em bread and water see if they want to stay in jail then. Nice write my friend bravo i salute you

well all i can say is it could have worked, here in the uk, which is nowhere near as tough on crime like in the states. knife crimes are going up and up and up and something has to be done about it, but know one has the real solutions, perhaps, the people with the minds and power to do so will never find a away to cut this shit out

Incredible!!
Awesome!! This is a fantastic theory, and presents some of the major truths of our criminal justice system!!
It is oftentimes difficult to "reform" or "rehabilitate" (some) criminal minds... While I've never been incarcerated (yet) I work for the Dept. of Mental Health in a forensic psychiatric hospital, where we house & treat the criminally insane population. From the stories I've heard from our patients, the jails and prisons are absolutely terrifying!! Part of the reason stems from having no oversight... much like some agencies in the federal government who shall remain nameless at the moment... (my lips are sealed, Mr. Bush)... I could go on and on about my own theories, but I think you've covered most all of it right here. Great write, thank you for sharing!!
Peace, Cyn

I can feel the curiosity you clearly have for this topic and can feel some passion behind your words, though as I read I couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed by the way this is set out ... it is all lumped together and the ideas and thoughts aren't coming through as freely as they could and should for this kind of topic.
I think if you broke this up a little bit into maybe a couple paragraphs and ran through a quick spell check and did some puncuation this would read perfectly, getting your views across and allowing the reader to think about what you are saying
