Ode to God

My God, my God, you deserve all my praise,
You who created all beauty on earth.
My voice will sing and my hands they will raise,
You bring no sadness, only joy and mirth.
You who created the dark and the light,
You who know me and love me even so.
I marvel at all that you’ve done for me,
I am awestruck by your power and might.
You care for me and you never let go,
So this song I sing, for you it will be.

You’ve given me hope; you’ve given me love,
All that I have, I have because of you.
Your countenance is shining from above,
In you I have faith, you are just and true.
I’ll fear you, love you, praise your holy name,
I can never show you quite enough thanks;
I am a sinner yet you love me still.
You are timeless, perfect, and without blame,
You create from nothing, canvas a blank.
Everything is good if it’s in your will.

So thank you for sending your son to die,
So that we all may be saved by your grace.
Thank you for the sun and moon in the sky,
Thank you for all of the stars up in space.
I thank you each day for giving me life,
And for all of the friends, I am truly bless’d.
Thank you for giving me someone to hold,
Who can love me through any pain or strife.
I thank you because your love is the best,
And I’ll thank you Lord even when I’m old.

Wow! I'm impressed. I enjoyed reading this poem and truly thank you for entering my contest. I like the line, "My voice will sing and my hands they will raise", but may I suggest taking out they? I also like the line, "You create from nothing, canvas a blank", but I think it would flow better if you said "a canvas of blank."

I love that this is so heart-felt. It truly is a cry out to God. You've penned this very well.

Oo I just recalled why those lines are worded the way they are; because it's an ode, so each line has 10 syllables lol
