Monkey in my Brain

Missing image

Sitting in an empty room
Watching the calender on the wall
Scanning for any date or time
When a butterfly could come to call

There's an elephant in my stomach
A lonely monkey in my brain
A dark green emotion in my heart
Love will stop me going insane

Leafing through my changing expressions
Old messages to muddle through
Cant stop my mind from endlessly spinning
Time to stop and make a brew

There's an elephant in my stomach
A sad monkey in my brain
A dark green emotion in my heart
Love will stop me being sane

As the litter of a mean society
Flutters gracefully to make amends
a fierce expectant wonderful train
Goes boom inside my head

There's an elephant in my stomach
A smiling monkey in my brain
A dark green emotion in my heart
Love won't stop me being insane

My shaking head sits atop my hands
Mulling through my frustrated mind
Hoping that my selfish thoughts
Will soon turn into something kind

There's an elephant in my stomach
A daft monkey in my brain
A dark green emotion in my heart
Love will help me in staying sane

Will my butterfly say goodbye
Or land here and caress my soul
A beauty that's never forsaken
I should net her and catch her whole

There's an elephant in my stomach
A hopeful monkey in my brain
A dark green emotion in my heart
Love will guide me aboard that train
