Gin and Tears

My mother
She would always sit and cry
Wondering why
Just why did he leave
A Martini in her hand
I'd take a sip
I've never forgotten that taste
Gin mixed with tears
The perfect heartbreak remedy

Author notes

This is so sad. Sometimes as parents we don't see our childrens pain cause we are so caught up in our own...they see what we hope they don't.

    "I've never forgotten that taste
    Gin mixed with tears
    The perfect heartbreak remedy"

We teach our children how to deal with heartbreak without even realizing it!

Something all parents out there should read!

thanks for your beautiful comment on my poem. It is really sad the message that parents can pass on to their children. I also found it hard when parents are so involved in themselves and bettering themselves, they make their kids go without.
