My friend, my friend, where have you been,..
I have looked for you for so long!
You have echoed in my dreams, of childhood years,
Reminiscing of a time now gone.
Once we were young, and tightly bonded.
Our lives on a parallel plane.
When one would need, the other responded.
We were then, very much the same.
The joys we shared, we laughed, we cried;
We dreamed of what our futures would hold.
We knew that, what ever we decide,
Our friendship would last till old!
High school years, forged friendship true.
Many obstacles we went past.
Life was ours, and that we knew.
But our pearl was slipping fast!
Graduation came, graduation went;
Our lives still entwined for awhile.
Now on our own, as time was spent,
Slowly drifting apart, each mile.
Though friendship true, time pulled us away..
From the life that we once shared.
But I see your face, most often each day,
To recall memories, of the friend I cared.
So many years have taken their toll,
You now, in eternity live on.
My friend, my friend, where have you been,..
I have looked for you for so long!
Ere I shall follow where you did go,
To know where it is,... you've gone!!
