Misguided Satisfaction

Missing image

eyes see only what I wish them too see
misleading a soul into fake fulfillment,
and when my heart feels only what is craved
there remains a void never embraced,

allowing a mind to ignore -what is-
for the sake of wishful thinking,
only cheats me from reaching validation
which joins completeness with truth,

the yearning to believe is strong
those hopes; lying within longing,
moments in which I solemnly cling~
painting my sky...
                             in misguided satisfaction.

I think we all do this at times... hold onto and live within past feeling and wishful thinking rather than facing what is!

    A fantastic write!

A good job describing the tendency to look at life through glasses colored by desire. Wonderful write and a very different take on the prompt.

Wonderful! An excellent take on the picture! I think you have really captured the darkness the lurks there. Yes we all crave satisfaction, to the point where we become very misguided in seeing what is really there.
    All the best with this

Wow! Wow! Beautiful words to go with a beautiful picture. Denial is a powerful thing, and that seems to be what you are talking about here. I may be wrong but that is what I take from this gorgeous write. Nice job! Blessings, Patty

Yep..denying what is fact over what we only wish to feel, as in a need to feel..if that makes sense. Sometimes I find myself overlooking the obvious just to hold on that feeling. Thanks for the comment ma' dear.
