I curled my hair for you…
and massaged my face
with Oil of Olay
I looked out my window
for you every day…
I tried to look pretty
for you in every way
Hoping that you would notice
and come back to stay
That you would by chance
speak to me…
That you would perhaps
set my heart free…
Every day I waited
but you never came
I kept fixing my hair
hoping you would come
all the same…
I knew in my heart
that our love
could not be…
But still I dreamed on
about you and me…
I curled my eyelashes
I soaped my skin with Almay
I had hot flashes
while I rehearsed
what I was going to say
I put on my make up
I polished my nails…
Until the day I woke up
to see again
that love failed

This is a great take on the prompt! So many women do this stuff for guys that are not worth their time anyway. Hopefully one could learn that their time is much more valuable than to waste it on a guy who doesn't deserve their care or affections. Great job on this write. Blessings, Patty

Wow, this is a great take on the quote.
What a terrible reality to face knowing
that you tried so hard for nothing. I
love your title here. Well done and
good luck to you here!
