I'm opening a new store,
well not new
Just new for me.
Those there resent it.
Wish I'd drop dead I'm sure
Certain they don't need me.
Find faults with
My looks
My attitude
My ideals
Yet first impressions are lasting
I don't care if they like me.
My job is to turn it around;
Make it profitable again.
I ignore their cold stares
Their whispered snide remarks
And go about my job
Lightly enforcing proper procedures
No smoking in front of store.
Sweep up your butts
Kid them about improper dress
Gently letting them know I'm not pleased.
I begin working alone
Proving myself.
Never ask them to do something
They haven't seen me do first.
I clean the toilets
I scrub the floors
I stock the shelves.
I write the schedules.
I smile for the customers
And handle their concerns.
And advertise for new help.
They get it or they're gone.
Soon, I know
The store will look shiny and new
The staff will be smiling
and the customers will too.

Thank You
I am very flattered that you chose this one for gold..
I showed it to my employees.. They were a little saddened to think I thought they didn't like me... In fact, though I have been there only a week, they say i am the first manager that actually gave a shit. Yet they admit knowing very little other than running a register. They say that no one bothered to teach them anything.. So i will be spending a lot of time retraining. Though i know a few just wont reach my expectations... and that saddens me.. It is not a good time to be out looking for work and I see the need for a termination as a failure on my part.
