Something Gained/Something Lost

poetry gave her today
a gift of innocence
silken-wrapped, inward
leaning and carefully
toted in her satchel
for moments of quiet introspection

it leaks from ripped stitching
lost moments of youth, dripping
onto cement sidewalks
as unknown entity stalks
and follows her around
seeking to steal it all in one swoop.

This poetry makes me think of the adversary that "stalks" seeking whom he can devour. Yes...that old wicked one doesn't want us to have anything, especially not our dreams. I really liked where you took the prompt passage. Thank you for this entry and I wish you well in the contest. It was a pleasure to collaborate with you.

    Much Love & Respect ♥
