Staying young minded is the key,
to enjoy life and keep joy in the lead.
Now we have seen many years
some good ,some bad,
Only today Goober and Joy
they be so bad.
With their eyesight gone
life has gotten good,
don't always wear the clothes
that 80 year old should.
People who pass by give a "Oh MAN"
and close their eyes,
for it truly hurts to see that much skin
in the day of light.
Goober and Joy well
they don't pay them no mind,
honestly they can't hear them
and they don't have eyesight.
So they deck themselves out
to fit the day ,
and well today it's the beach
and their on their way.
Goober yells at Joy
you want to take in some rays ,
and joy yells back behave yourself
this is no place to play.
Goober yells back no ma
and placed his hand on her leg,
and Joy slaps at him
and replies BEHAVE!
Goober got his feelings hurt
he wasn't sure what was wrong ,
so he stood up and flexed his muscles
and sang her their song.
Joy being partial to the tune
she stood and took his hand,
she replied it's time
we get on back home old man.
Oh life is good at 80
for the sign language works so well,
we go where ever we want
and everything is on sale.
We don't pay no mind to the young
whippersnappers you see,
for love is something that's
always in the lead.

I took a stab at this contest and then came around to see some of the other entries. Love this piece.

This stanza is a complete riot, and I love how you paint getting older. It's by focusing on the positives and joys of life that we get the most out of it, and I love that you show that here.
