Byronic Saviour

Soft were the rays of the dawn on my virgin face
I had never seen the moon in the raven winged sky
Words of midnight had always held me in such an embrace
That when I lost my innocence the darkness taught me how to cry

Hearts as holy as mine was never meant to be abused
In the way you tore my flesh as I said I love you
And now that you’re dying my soul is lost and bruised
But I search until the end for you my Byronic saviour
For I need to hear your prayers once more of beauty cold and true

I cling to the memory of our dancing on the bones of weak
Your touch burned by skin so I treasure every scar
And although I am ignorant of where you lie your trail is unique
The more rapid my deterioration the closer I know your are

Hearts as holy as mine was never meant to be abused
In the way you tore my flesh as I said I love you
And now that you’re dying my soul is lost and bruised
But I search until the end for you my Byronic saviour
For I need to hear your prayers once more of beauty cold and true

There is no glorious prize waiting for me when we meet
This quest I know is entwined with suicide
But without your stare shattering my spirit I am incomplete
So judge me not only wait and think of me as a tormented bride

    Wow. This poems aches with pain and sorrow. It's surrendering, at the same time, strong. Though I did not get the "Byrnoic" part. I feel that I've missed the entire poem somehow. I hope I haven't. A beautiful and heart rending piece.

    This is amazing

    This is really fucking good. The imagery is so dark but so beautiful. I loved the lines, 'But without your stare shattering my spirit I am incomplete

    I see the lyrics within this piece. Great job. You touch upon the darkness then skim back into the light. Very interesting take on this prompt....I would have never seen this.
