Kind of blue,
(so what?)
missing you,
(a lot?)
lonely hue.
(why not?)
I’ve been cooking something up, something new,
a tasty little stew
and it’s just for you.
But my love it’s true,
this new brew…
(hot?)
… it tastes a lot like voodoo.
First make a statement with the head,
(first pot)
unwinding lines in diamond minor,
(tight knot)
wrack up some practice in the shed,
(hot spot)
with lips and fingers getting finer.
(sure shot)
Then take a trip out to the bridge,
(brave fool)
keep all the changes diatonic,
(old school)
put every E flat in the fridge,
(ice cool)
until they're playful and ironic.
(high school)
Starting outside…
on the sharp side, uptide…
blow with the flow, growing snow, sliding
improvise, eyes wide…
then walk the inside…
of an upsidedown again ride…
sail with the scale, chase the tail of a
toast fried ghost glide….
strolling with the shoal and my whole soul's in control,
walking like a stork, hawking no more small talk,
pouring every chord while my shoes smooth raw floor
taking every break like a two-toned boned snake…
pick up the phrase, restate the case
(old news)
enjoy the stylish syncopation
(win-lose)
put all the notes back into place
(short queues)
round off adventurous narration
(long views)
and as the end comes into sight
(day break)
after a satisfied infusion
(blue lake)
because the journey’s been just right
(cream cake)
there can be only one conclusion.
(keepsake)
And still the same old lonely hue
(why not…)
and still I wonder what you’re doing
(a lot…)
and still that feeling kind of blue
(so what…)

Thanks
If you listen to the Miles Davis track So What from the Kind of Blue 1959 album, you'll see where the rhythmical inspiration comes from. I wanted to write a tribute, really. So a lot of your praise should really go to Miles Davis! Nevertheless, thank you for your generous comments.
