wondering, waiting
afraid to know what the doctor had said.
It was just a lump,
a small one no less
but at your age cancer is a chance.
I thought it was over
the agony that was cancer
you've been through it before
now all i can do is wonder.
The door opens and you walk out
tears streaming down your face
I feel my heart stop, no breath could I take.
Waiting, Wondering
what did they say.
Was it cancer again, will you have to stay?
She grabbed me close into a hug
whispered "It's all ok,
Just some calcium build up."
I let loose a cry of joy,
tears rolling across my cheeks,
my eyes were wide and now i can see.
Breast cancer is serious,
scary too,
but my mamaws a lucky one
she made it through.
Author notes
Write a personal dedication to someone that you know is struggling with breast cancer.
I know my poem aint about the struggle, but it is about the scare. last January mamaw went to the doctor and they found a lump in her breast. the weeks that followed were full of terror. after a couple weeks she went back for the result of the biopse and i had to wait in the waiting room. i was so scared. my mamaw was a lucky one she didnt have breast cancer, it was just calcium build up. i was so relieved but it made me reliaze how important it is to get checked for it often..maybe if more young women got checked for it we'd have less deaths due to cancer...........

A very scary thought indeed. I've been in those shoes with my mother, we were not so lucky, she did have it, however, we are very lucky now, she beat it and is as strong as ever. Thank you for a wonderful and thoughtful write.
