Where I live, welcoming winter is like inviting
a white-haired, dirty old lady to have her way with me:
her obscene advances are not welcome, but she deems
them necessary, whether I like them or not.
She dons a long, long white coat, the old hag,
and she often buries me in it, as her paralyzing
breath stuns me into submission.
Then, her ice-cold fingers touch me here and
there, vainly trying to strip me naked, even
when she knows darn well I’m wearing multiple layers.
Her obscene advances disgust me;
they make sick,
they make me shiver,
they make me want to run—run to Florida—to
see my loved one: the shining Southeastern sun.

lol - I can't help but laugh at your description of the opposite of 'old man winter'.....very vivid images, some I'd prefer not to have (being a woman...lol)....but this is a great spin-around....
We live in an area that can get 8 ft. of snow overnight, and the temps. can be 60 one day, then drop into freezing the next......the weather channel loves this area....lol
I'm with you - I want to go south. I am tired of the cold, snow, ice - yes, it is pretty - for awhile. But as we age, we tend to get tired of it - real quick.
I enjoyed your entry. Thank you.
best wishes in the contest.

We here on the plains know the Wintry croon all too well. Very inventive idea in metaphor here.

Thank you for reading and commenting....Yeah, they call it "old man winter," so I thought I'd put a different spin on it.

Although, I don't feel the same about winter, since winter is my season, this is a very good write. I do believe I might have cracked a smile.

Thank you
I'd love to spend my winters in Missouri
a four season state, but Wisconsin winters....heck they start in October and end in May--brrr!
