Babylon Dawn

Morning dew

gave a welcomed respite

to weary warriors

muscles tensed

and pulses pounded

with anticipation

as Sun’s rays caressed

spears and

polished shields

just before Alexander

gave the order

to attack.

What a glorious take on the prompt!! Such an amazing imagination and story telling ability you have MJ, even in such a few words! Love the splattering of alliteration through this too

my favorite part.. reminds me of that serene moment where you take in every little bit around you before heading in...

this could really only be written like that by someone who has felt that feeling.

A very nice take on this idea. It is so funny how you can say almost nothing and it be everything. A wonderful poet.

Great imagery and a piece of history as well...A sad ending to a strong and beautiful life, with a lost soul looking for it's home...
    thank you for entering!

...and you polished your words to a glowing intensity.

I sincerely hope your efforts are rewarded with a fitting reward because this poem, to me, is a wonderfully worded response to the prompt.

    Love Margaret
