Disguises Exposed

The gloss of refinement
meant little
as your stilettoes
ruthlessly crushed
any opposition.

Your mask of protected aura
slipped,
as the next drink
burned away sweet demeanour,
acidic words
falling from
deceit's bitter mouth,
like decayed autumn leaves.
