The journeys traveled
To get to where I am
Was filled with
So much pain, loneliness and hopelessness
The scars are the roadmap
From there to here
Sometimes I do not know how I made it
When there were so many reasons to quit
I made it though
Stronger because of it
Eyes wide open to the hurt that is out there
With Hearts desire to share my journeys
To all who will listen....

I loved the line "the scars are the roadmap". What you said is true, those hard spots in life only make us stronger, and shape who we become.

We all fight so many battles in our own lives that seem like they won't ever end. But you are absolutely right, these are our scars but they are also the things that make us stronger and open our eyes up to the real world and the problems that we can help others with. Those who live sheltered lives and never figure out how to care about people that are not themselves are the ones who are really the ones to feel sorry for. Thank you for this poem, and I hope things in the future are much better than they have been in the past! Keep up the great work!
