i watch the stream
slowly flowing beneath my feet
almost all is quiet, not a sound
almost everyone is enjoying it,
yet my brain is screaming
i tell myself to be silent and
let myself enjoy the good, but
i see the storm clouds creeping in,
dark and full of rage waiting
to be able to let loose their rage
how can there be so much anger above me,
when right below my feet, the stream
is flowing oh so peacefully
most is calm yet i'm focused
on the raging storm clouds
hearing the stream flowing
brings back such pleasant memories
of being a kid, when life was simple
In the distance I see two people skipping rocks.
like a kid on a hot summers day
the same way i used to when i was younger.
when i was able to focus on simplicity.
a time when life was like the stream
flowing so easily, all so predictable
now sitting on this bridge
staring at the stream
every so often glancing
at the raging storm clouds.
i'm starting to see just how
weird and twisted this nature thing is.
and how complicated things have become.
I realize how life is like nature,
like the stream, when things are simple.
so peaceful, calm, and a bit predictable
but in an instant that can change
all of a sudden life's like those storm clouds,
at times scary and difficult, fierce, intimidating
and very unpredictable.
just like at first glance you can not
know what a person is holding
inside them just waiting to explode
just as you don't know how fierce,
how destructive and merciless,
of a storm those clouds may bring,
nature is just as a human,
not possible to be judged at first glance.
