Surrogate Mother

Daddy's getting drunk tonight
Mother's getting high
I need a savior
I need a way out of this life
And you're my surrogate mother

You cradle me in the darkness
You hold up a light to find my way home
Home to you, to you, to you..
You're my surrogate mother

I didn't mean to put you on the spot
I didn't mean to depend on you
But I do, cause..
You're my surrogate mother

You don't ask questions I can't answer
You don't talk to me as if I can't understand
You just protect me from the dangers
You're my surrogate mother

Author notes

Something I wrote a decade ago, so please pardon its crapiness. I wrote this for my sister many years ago, she just died this weekend, which is why I brought my old stuff out in the first place.

What did you think?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
