when you first had me in mind?
Is every blemish, flaw and scratch
exactly how you planned?
Why did you make me this creature I am,
If not only to be mocked and jeered,
To gaze at the world looking in
at the sidehow freak and laughing while she tries to smile,
Are these the things you had intended,
You make no mistakes and so this is it,
Exactly the way you had wanted me to appear,
Exactly what you had envisioned in your mind,
Whilst making my being out of nothing at all,
And you knew how this would be for me,
So I ask you a simple question and beg a simple plea,'
Why did you make me?
And could you take it back?
I desire the beauty as all your sons and daughters seem to have,
A distant unobtainable goal for a beast such as I,
Wallowing in the shadowy background
For a chance to stand in the light without being ashamed,
Am I the image of the girl you want me to reflect,
Is this mirror broken or is that the face,
Of a being that has no right to exist,
Whose foul outer shell poisons her core,
And ruins the purity of your beautifully made world,
You are perfection and from you come perfect works,
So what were you thinking while you put me together,
Choosing out every piece of this complex puzzel,
And placing them in some strange order,
To come out with the finished prodect that is me,
But can you really be done?
I don't mean to sound discontent with what I am,
But I feel like a mistake,
Why did youm make me this way,
What did your mind's eye see,
" Be silent child , for you are not alone,
And as you have said with wise words I make no mistakes.
You are the ideal picture I saw in my head
and everything I had intended you to be.
If you don't deserve a place in this world because you scar its flesh
Than why would I put you here as a part of it's glory?
Be thankful and content sweet child for you are my daughter,
And I love you as I love all my creations..."
Praise the father whereby all things come clear,
The exterior importnace melts away into the firery chambers,
I gaze into a shattered mirror of pointless longing and smile,
A magnificent sight to behold is my own face,
Bitterness , hate and despair have fallen away,
Leaving me in the shining light of realization,
(Psalm 139:14)
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
(NIV Bible)
Author notes
Do you ever look in the mirror and wished you were different? Maybe you are too short, or too tall, or too thin, or too heavy. The list never seems to end. Even the super model seems to be preoccupied with the one slight imperfection that nobody else even notices. It seems that most of us, in varying degrees, are not happy with the way we were made.
For some of us, it might physical dissatisfaction, while for others it might be that we're not be smart enough, or outgoing enough, or etc. etc. etc. Our society has believed a lie that says we have to look and act a certain way in order to be accepted. Even those who make up the standards of acceptance feel unaccepted deep down in their hearts. No matter how hard we try to change our outward appearance in order to gain love and acceptance, I am afraid that it will always elude us.
True love and acceptance does not come from changing ourselves to become more loveable, for according to Psalm 139, we all already loved just the way we are. In verse 14, the psalmist cries out "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." When God created us, He made us exactly the way He planned. When He designed us, before we were even in our mother's womb, He planned our size, the color of our eyes, the color of our skin, everything about us!
Just as He proclaimed His creation good in Genesis 1, He proclaims that we were made perfect in His site. When we believe the Hollywood lies that we are not good enough, we are in fact, disagreeing with how God made us. Your Father in heaven does not make junk! You are fearfully and wonderfully made and God's work in your life is wonderful! You do not need to conform to somebody else's image of success, but only ask God for ears to hear His delight in your creation.
The next time you look in the mirror, don't be afraid of what you see, for you were made in the image of God, and He declares that you are fearfully and wonderfully made!

this is so sweet,I watched a show on the discovering channel that made me wonder why such pain is given, deformed and treated so horribly. I felt so bad even though I realize that we don't know what God knows, and he is fair and just and there is a reason, maybe it is for us to see the pain we cause because of superficial flaws instead of accepting and seeing the beauty in all.
this is an incredible write
I truely enjoyed
God bless you...
