Elitist (Free Verse)

Why do you insist on breathing?
As if I didn’t know…...
a mule can'’t help his breathing,
a dog can'’t stop his lolling tongue,
his slavering, and his obsequious wag that greets
serial murderers and philanthropists
as if they were the same.
The beast does not hold his breath,
for survival is all that matters.
Only man thinks to hold his tongue,
guard his breath, and save the world his palaver.
So go then, beast, do your panting in the yard.
Do your scratching in the stock pen,
and save your breath to fight for scraps
thrown out to other dogs.

I was pissed off when I wrote this...can you tell? And yes, I have a superiority complex. It's not my fault that most of humanity is comprised of slavering idiots.
