No birds sang in Medjugorje
though miracles rained from on high.
not a cat , a dog , a rat
passed the crowded streets
Pilgrims swarm like flocks of starlings.
Statues weep, visions fly.
gaudy trinkets, fast food booths
life as money, profit?
What means profit?
Gift of money?
Gift of foresight?
mystery.
No birds sang in Medjugorje,
war had torn the land apart.
safe at home the swallows joyful
where did all the swallows go?
I will go tonight at owl light
softly down by the sea.
Listen gladly to the sea birds
Sad, a bit at what I have learned.
No birds sang in Medjugorje
Silenced by man
Silenced by war
No Birds sang in Medjugorje

no birds sang in Medjugorje
I went to Medjugorje on a pilgrimage about a month after 9/11, wo is going to hijack a plane to Dubrovnik right? well as an American, I had never been in war torn territory, Bosnia Croatia had been decimated, it changed my life in a way, back to a hard line no war stance, any way it was so quiet domestic animals not visible, and Our Lady s garden so well know for the birds was silent, signs to watch for land mines, pilgrims, heedless of what had gone on there, looking for their private miracles, did not seem to notice the huge stone poles marking mass graves, when you said silence, it brought me right back there, om the midst of 1000s of people on pilgrimage, I found the silence of war over powering
sorry for omitting yhe infp that is why I wrote on this partiuclar silence
