People say that love is a lot of give and take.
My cynicism spoke for me
I said that love was fake.
A judgement clouded by these deeply biased eyes
Because all I'd ever felt
Was thievery and lies.
I cannot blame sweet love though
It played no part in my demise.
After desperate searching I found the truth my dear
With this shockingly rapid
And heart stopping of two souls drawing near.
I've finally decided while what they say may be true
About the give and take of love.
I'm rather fond of a different view.
Love is not just give and take.
It's finding that one person
You want to give your whole life to.
Look me in the eyes dear while my soul I bare
Look me in the eyes dear
Feel the truth that's there.
If ever I wondered why my heart flutters so
It's trying to escape
To the only home it knows.
Clasped in your hands, captive to your touch
Everything I am is yours
For I could never give enough.

This is written for my wonderful, super, amazing boyfriend from middle of the night inspiration. I love him dearly and this is obviously dedicated to him.

Oh my goodness adorable. I adore this. It isn't awkward or anything it's natural. For once I have nothing to say. There's no possible excuse for correcting something that doesn't need correcting. A few punctuation stuff could be added in but other than that I really think this is brilliant. Well done.

Awww.. this is so sweet. I think the part I like best is the end of the first stanza where you say "I cannot blame sweet love though
It played no part in my demise." It made me realize that so often, people blame love for things that had nothing to do with love and were not done out of love, but out of hate instead and all the negativity in the world can not get rid of love. This was a very romantic poem and I hope that you share it with your boyfriend, I hope that you also continue to share your poetry with us at allpoetry because you have a voice that should not be ignored -
