with eyes shuttered
against the icy stares
which cool the warmest day
I search for sleep
to dull the lonely voices
for unconsciousness
to blur the edges
of your deception
but curtains of ennui
cannot hold back
the creeping chill
can love exist
between the layers
of fog and mist?

Beautiful poem full of misty images conveying loss, heartbreak, and searching for peace. How often I've experienced this.
Best of luck in this contest!
