self

silence is a home
for the soul

a cabin
on a mountain
gathered in the palm

of natures symphony

simple

a day in the city
is a carousel
conversations swirling
taxis horns cursing, hurry!

poison

hot-dogs

funnel cakes
cigarette smoke
fill each breath

the electricity, the hustle
pounds like percussion
demanding, march!

miles away from silence
we starve and grieve

the anguish remains
until we walk the path
back to our cabin

light a fire
just to watch it burn

I like this. Sensory perceptions of the outside world swirl around the cabin like a hurricane around its eye. Easily discernable meaning. Dig it.

a good piece of poetry which you have presented here, ah silence, i ahte it at times, i mostly have the tv on in the background, and when friends call music is played, but sometimes i like to sit with no sound. i like the fairground imagery here with hotdogs and such too, to show the fast paced madness life can be.

I love the way you paint a picture with your words and take the reader along with you. The last two stanzas are my favorite, but there is so much to this to love. It is peaceful and comforting, romantic and sensual, it is what a poem is supposed to be.

Yes! Celebrating the simple is one of the surest paths to peace. The need for constant entertainment becomes an addiction until we forget how to be alone and enjoy silence. Music is the space between the notes, too. Nicely done.

    Very Good

    the ache
    remains
    until we walk the path
    back to our cabin

    light a fire
    just to watch it burn

All the lines support the wonderful ending
I wish I could find this style in me

    Just lovely

    Rick

Yes..I do agree that the solitude itself is a situation out of control..despite many efforts are done..if the heart is aching then it is a difficult display of the destiny bringing the muse in neautral ..a great poem indeed..

    Hi Friend,
    I love this piece,
    not only for its beauty,
    but because you wrote it,
and I happen to just love
    everything you write.
    Honestly I do, LoL.
This is a very comfortable, warm and relaxing
piece to come home to. Living in a very busy
city, I need a path to a cozy cabin, believe me.
    Very enjoyable to read.
Thanks, you made me dream for a moment.

    Love Ya,

This is very cozy and warm.
Touches the heart and caresses the soul.
Soft and gentle, makes one long for home,
even if their only gone for a few hours.
I enjoyed this piece a lot.

Soundproof my soul sits, nestled in the cage of my ribs, locked in the cells of my brain, longing to fly free,

waiting till I weary of the noise, the blah blah blah of candidates, the obvious ploys of candid dates, the drip, drip, drip of the faucet in the wee hours, the world rushing by, til I flee for the sanctuary of it's quiet repose. Then the poetry flows to tweak the silence into breaths between lines. Lovely write Michelle, and that new picture of you takes my breath
away completely like a shop vac, and makes me long for Alabama, southern hospitality, and the nectar of dew on two lips.~~Artis

The journey to silence can be wonderful. Self finding the inner peace no matter where we are in life.
May your life be blessed with escapes into silence...

    Hugs

oooohhhhh now I really like this one. It tells me that while people enjoy the commotion of city life we need once in a while go to a quiet place and re-charge our batteries. This is a great write and I really do enjoy it.
