Bringer of darkness
In your hands lies choice
of vengeance and mercy
Compassion's kiss
in violet eyes alight with laughter
Righteous anger
in cheeks aflame awash with tears
So much within a name
Illumination
Degradation
Where lies humanity
in your speculation
Which identity
will you show creation

Author notes

I applied a twist to this challenge. My avatar is my name itself, rather than an artist's image. The poem is 50 words, but it is not about why my avatar is the best. Rather, the poem addresses the meaning of the parts of the name, and the choice behind it. Not what you were looking for, but I had fun nonetheless.

      I think that is part of the reason we write poetry. Words are a powerful mirror of perception and interpretation, even when they reveal our own delusions.
