A Widow and Her Memories

A whispered summer breeze

caught a lock

of frail gray hair

as laughter of children

echoed

in her mind

they were grown

he

was gone

although

still in her heart

like a song.

A waltz by moonlight

once reflected

on red silk

now, coal black

is her color

of choice.

Mourning that continues whether official or not holds the memories of love - the hand held between lonely. I am moved and touched by this piece. Choice lines and phrases:

    - A waltz by moonlight once reflected on red silk -
Such a vibrant visual with this.

Wonderful poetry and reads the prompts beautifully. Thank you for such a splendid entry. Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela

the middle part of the piece really struck me :

    "... they were grown
    he
    was gone

    although
    still in her heart
    like a song. ..."

wonderful. good luck in the contest and thanks.

It's sparse but that appeals to me. You have said a lot in a few words.

These few words have real impact.
I marvelled at the use of colour
    and movement throughout to convey
    further meaning. Blue
