I am sinking like a battleship
that is lost to stilted seas
All because those warm eyes
Suddenly locked on me.
Torpedoes were fired
from one direction to the next
My defenses were shot down
Despite my best reflex.
Now fires burn underwater,
the laws of physics lay denied
Your flames seem to crackle and pop
lighting me up from the inside.
Communication systems are down,
My shambled systems overload,
But I'll send an SOS
If I ever learn Morse Code.
This haphazardly held meeting
Has surely made my day,
Even though when you sailed by
I froze, unsure of what to say.
I'm no goddess of war,
in fact I quite prefer emotion
scalding hot, so raw and cold
That things move in slow motion.
I'm surely no mermaiden,
With hair like waterfalls or British Isles,
But your glance from a crowded ocean away
Made it seem I had no need for aesthetic guile.
In all honesty, I'm no damsel in distress
Yet I'd love a knight-like rescue
From this burning ship and burning heart
Set alight by you.
So, sink me like a battleship
if you wish, an entire fleet
Then find me lying along the shore
And listen to my heart beat.
