sing to me.

sing to me-

please
i know you can.

be the one i've dreamt you to be.
i can hear it in your voice
with every shakequivercrack
you're like him.

tell me you're like him
that you're not a figment of
            my imagination-
    a post-adolescent fantasy of
an older man to free me from
            my infantile naivety
you're not a pipe dream and

I'm not a child.

your stature, your stare
you're him.

sing me something sweet
sing me something sharp
sing quiet
sing soft

tell me she hurt you, tell me you're

      broken.

you're damaged goods
an empty shell
you're perfect-
if you're real.

tear it to shreds. i can't seem to fix it, no matter how hard i try.

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
