she had such fatigue
tied to her apron
colors faded from over wash
the very wilt of time
tainting her cheeks
a sickly tinge of sepia
one burnt-amber morning
her spirit
raised its brittle limbs
in protest of depression
praised the heavens
that freely fell down
as a wished for well
filled with serenity's hue
replenished her mind
embracing healed soul
she took up weightlessness
and barreled skyward
torn wings could never
secede her willingness
to ride soft winnows whirl

Congratulations on the bronze. This had me torn between the tragedy of loss (perhaps a loved one) and the triumph of reformation (that glorious day when we will all be clothed in the purity of righteousness).
Sincerely,

Renee...when signed, this is the most
beautiful and lovely poem. It is my
way of 'reading your work out loud,'
so yes, to Cat's comment below...you
are a song. Love, Lane
