The Daemon in My Garden

He lurks, but whether to pounce or protect
I don't know, but I do know his eyes glow
in the deepest dark of night. I reject
the idea this may be hallucination. I just know!

Though in daylight glare he won't stare

everyone who's braved the night just has to know

that he stares as if one might be completely bare,

as if he sees right theough you with that vil glow.

Right now, only his grim great head is visable to me.

I fear on all Saints night I'll see much much more

and I don't like what I imagine will be set free

to roam the darkest night creating fearful blood and gore.

Those huge fleshy lips no doubt probably conceal

yellowed sharp fangs for ripping rotting flesh

and just thinking about it makes my blood congeal.

It's at midnight that imagination and reality mesh!

Author notes

Don't we all have our daemons in darkest night?
