The Beast of Betrayal

Betrayal crouches in thick weeds
A tiger watching my every move
For now camouflaged within lies

I tense

The first stirrings of untruth are felt
Heartbeat quickens, eyes shift to the west
The predator is out tonight and coming near

I run

In the barren grassland of our relationship
Honesty becomes an empty promise
The tiger pounces, strikes, rips my heart apart

And I am devoured

This flows very well. You can feel the urge to flight!
