Near peaceful Kambula many years ago,
there was a battle that went to and fro.
Unknown to the residents of the quiet village,
a neighboring tribe was coming to rape and pillage.
When the fight came it was a surprise,
the sleeping people had barely begun to rise.
At first there was confusion and great strife,
crying and weeping and a loss of life.
But, courageous Uhama refused to be bound,
he rallied the troops and they stood their ground.
Because of his courage they stopped the attack,
by his example they were beaten back.
Brave Uhama showed them the way,
gallant Uhama saved the day!
To show their love and that the villagers cared,
a statue was created to the man that dared.
The face of Uhama was carved in stone,
the face of the hero would be forever shone.
And the statue stood for many a year,
a source of pride and a source of cheer.
But, over time Uhama's deeds were forgot,
trees grew over where the battle was fought.
Like the man, the legend did die,
such bravery is forgotten we know not why.
Somewhere in the jungle in a long lost place,
lies a stone head with a very brave face.
Created to commemorate a man and his glory,
if you find it there, now you know his story!
