I ask quietly
to borrow
pieces of today
and neatly tuck them inside tomorrow
with photographic spaces
captured for the moment
never to die;
and black and white paper
printed with enough time
to expose our hearts
technology's mouth
spilling across flat screens
that keep one seated
upon a stool of intention
that speaks volumes about our laziness
and inside
I'll softly lay
little reminders of me ~
silk shadows
and lavender sighs
pending
as when life is done with me
someone else shall lift the purple flame of the flower
and smile
Author notes
You possess an empty chest.
What would you fill it with to inform the far future what it was like to live in our era?

This is beautiful. The first stanza just BEGS for attention, and that is exactly what it receives!
. "...silk shadows
and lavender sighs..."
That's a lovely description, I can just imagine soft fuzzy shadows and breath, leaking out, purple-tinted in winter... Great job, good luck in the contest!

Oh this chest will never be empty. Your words again are just beautiful. You have filled a heart with so much.
Good luck
