My Patron St. Francis
I think of the many
Questions I would ask him
“Do animals go to Heaven?”
I know he would say “yes!”
“Flowers, butterflies; do they have souls?”
“My dear, you above many know they are blessed!”
As a child, you were my favorite
Along with my sweet St. Bernadette
Your gentle love and guidance
Helped me not to cry or fret
Oh, my dear Protector of Animals
One who’s brother and sister
Are the beloved sun and moon
You alone know my heart like no other!
Bring your beautiful comfort
Into this dark world now
For I can no longer bare
The suffering upon my brow
For your precious animals
Are being exploited and slaughtered
Just for greed and profit, trying to
say they have no soul to justify it
And along with the Blessed Mary
The Earth is surely your Mother
And she is being harmed and used
with no respect for her or any other
What I can change
Help me to do it now
And things beyond my control
May I know the difference somehow
For you had the strength
And you held onto the courage
To be true to your soul
And not buy into the carnage
Guide me now, my Beloved
My kind and gentle Knight
Help me to be forever strong
And to keep fighting for the right!
