Devil Goats (Hocus-Pocus-Motherfucker)

Listen

http://iacmusic.com/songs.aspx?SongID=68684&ArtistID=9993

I bet you think that you're heaven bound
Since you filed your horns down
And took a 9 to 5 job
Like the day that you were robbed

So I hear that you're getting clear
Isn't Scientology great...
A million lemmings could not be wrong
When god's a blind date

I bet you wonder where time has gone
Now that you're wearing a watch
Office parties, and P. A's
Until you finally tie the knot

Hey, I'm stuck at Disneyland
Won't you please understand
My blues, nice shoes,
I hear Mickey Mouse
Left his head at kookooroos

I hope, I hope you really got a plan
To avoid the man, hurry up, what's up?
Paris Hilton makes me want to blow
this whole fucking place up and...

No, I never really had a vote
Just this stupid sasquatch coat,
nice moats, and boats
more money gets you in with the blue bloods
and devil goats

When are you going to admit?
That you're a slave to the game
Playing catch on a sitcom
Complete with make believe names

And you swear it's better now
Now that you're part of the team
But this isn't P. E. class
Or adolescent wet dreams

I love your suit and power ties
And that leased Mercedes Benz
Some friends need trends
But hanging out gives me the bends

Funny, how it all seems possible
But barely even plausible
Snake kings, fairy rings
I'm surprised Illuminati toadies
Could rape that many dreams

Over, I guess the end had to come
I hope I finally get me some
Cheap rum, Hitch hiker thumb
Anything's better than consuming
Till you're numb and dumb

Hey, I'm stuck at Disneyland
Won't you please understand
My blues, nice shoes,
I hear Mickey Mouse
Left his head at kookooroos

I hope, I hope you really got a plan
To avoid the man, hurry up, what's up?
Paris Hilton makes me want to blow
this whole fucking place up and...

No, I never really had a vote
Just this stupid sasquatch coat,
nice moats, and boats
more money gets you in with the blue bloods
and devil goats

    And the polemic goes on...

as it should. My only complaint is that you do goats wrong, man, I mean goats are angelic compared to those douchebags!

Of course, that really isn't a criticism.

Imaginative imagery, scathing sarcasm and the repeats will work fine with music. There's something missing for me here, though, and I'm not sure what it is. A sense of the narrator, perhaps, or an alternative on offer?

I'm fine with the goat symbolism, filing horns works in a few ways. But the sasquatch coat is too far a leap for me, maybe sasquatch shoes would work better? For taking big strides.

        That is GREAT

I love the music, your voice, the whole integration of words, tune, timbre, beat, images and sound. (also loved hearing my own name in there!)

For me, you've somehow taken Lou Reed and Nick Cave on a trip with a laid-back Jimi joining in. Who was that dude on the skins?

This is brilliant. You don't mind if I send this link around the world a bit?

    Wow!

The imagery was amazing in this! I loved it. You managed to have a meaning and be amusing all at once. Wonderful.

Whoa. Not only is the imagery vivid, it also made me want to blow a place up. Strong words, humorous, and deep in its meaning. Just downright awesome, this poet is. Keep it up!

We all die in the end from the disease of birth..which leads to the viral infection of life...most of us have stepped outside though...you seem to doubt that. Not without reason...but this has been said before more succinctly.

Really, by whom? Nietzsche eye balling a whipped horse until the most powerful self "evident" mind in the world broke? It's a song you tit.
It's not meant to be a philosophical bowel movement.
      You obviously live in Vermont.
Here's an idea, get out more to places like Manhattan, LA, and Las Vegas, and you'll probably realize being "succinct" as you so loosely put it (in your ass) does not exist. Unless of course you are referring to white America. Are you? White, I mean, totally out of the suburbs, home schooled? No, public educated upper middle class intellectual "artist". Yes, I've nailed it. I bet you went to RISDI, and have a hard time dating.

Nope. Poor white boy from Jonesboro, Ar. Lived north of Vermont for awhile, in Maine, snowboarding and working at a paper mill. Living in Australia now. And yeah, you were everywhere with this, and yeah, there's a word and a concept succinct, and no, this piece isn't an example of that.
So you should probably deal with that and it isn't such a bad thing.
And what you're saying, I think has been said before. Though honestly, I only read through the piece once...and I'm willing to admit I could be wrong. But this is just an opinion. A reflection. Take it or leave it.

The title alone is better than 90% of your entire body of work, so it's really hard to take you seriously, because, well... I've never heard of you.

You've read over 90% of my work? Wow...that's pretty awesome. Yet odd you haven't heard of me. You're probably lying, or don't know what you're talking about. Either way you could still be right. And I don't recall asking you to take me seriously. Thank you though for any effort you may have put forth in the matter. Please try again after reading at least some percentage of my work. Or not. Gotta be your own dog bro.

No, what I'm saying simply is. I've never heard of you. Where as? When I google horus8 I see someone that has actually worked in the world of writing, poetry, and music. Where as when I google you? I see 200 idiots with the same username that have no credentials outside of... Well, anywhere.

Oh. Nope. Pretty much one idiot. Other than Professor Neurosine, (Creater of synthetic THC,(Coincidence, I thought it was an original word when I made it up.)) all the rest are me. I don't always publish under my pseudonym, but have only published a couple of places. I'm glad you think so highly of yourself. Self esteem is important. You're a fairly common brand of idiot though if you don't think anyone else is entitled to their opinion.

A rowdy and humorous indictment of those who "sell-out", as well as mild self-denigration in the "sasquatch" and stuck in Disneyland stanzas... I love the beginning lines "I bet you think you're heaven-bound, now you've filed your horns down"! Sets the tone for the rest of the poem. A great read. Good luck with the song.

    Superb plus

A most fantastic write, with which I mostly agree. (even if it is satirical) Imagery, rhythm and rhyme are just fine. Thanks for sharing this one.

Hi! It's nice to see you posting again. I liked the other one you posted too but everytime I went to leave a comment something came up. But I wanted to say that I liked the creative expressions of both of them. I listened to the other song and thought it was pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen someone put sasquatch in a poem before. It was pretty crazy and got my attention. I'm sure I don't get all this but it was a lot of fun to read.

I just finished listening to it. I like all the night sounds that it starts with. Strange way to start a song but I wound up liking it. And I don't know if it's my slow computer but it stopped at 1 min. and 28 secs. Did you stop it there or is it me?
