Closed eyes won't realize
that dreams are fading.
And when they finally open to see
that the plants don't have chloroplasts
and skin no longer has pigment.
The sky is no longer a perfect blue picture,
covering the dulled stars.
The Ocean isn't glistening turquoise
who's color darkens with depth.
And maybe even the feeling
of touching your face will change.
The smooth skin of your cheek
will feel like stone against a numb hand.
After a while, dwelling in a gray world,
you start to lose sight of your fantasies
and you forget what you were enchanted by.
Never close your eyes for too long,
or you'll be looking back on faded dreams.
Author notes
On the way to the mall, I closed my eyes because the sun was too bright. A couple minutes later I opened then and looked out the window.
Everything looked sun bleached.
Dig it?

This was great.
Maybe you could make me write this well?
I'd really appreciate that.
