heaven would be at hand.
It was in truth,
Gods original plan.
Within the soul do you see heaven ,
a place of beauty times seven .
Do flowers bloom and bring scents of love ,
are there clear blue skies yet have rainbows above.
Adam and Eve were on earth,
our homeland today.
But tell me today how do we stand,
as we face God what do you say.
Everything upon this earth are heaven sent indeed,
he made our land with his own two hands then gave it to you and me.
Tell me please then why have we scorned it in such a way,
when all along we have ravaged our heaven now have evil so displayed.
This earth like heaven could be in full bloom ,
scented air of lilacs and birds that swoon.
Land so full of greenery it would bring the heart joy ,
and a place as in heaven safe for all girls and boys .
We turned our forests into barren lands,
our cities into stone.
Forgotten our children,
and left them without a home.
Tell me with this heaven so given,
what have you done.
For heaven is in and always was within,
our souls from day one.
Food was plenty the air was clean,
and the oceans teamed with fish within.
It wasn't until we felt we needed to own it,
that greed was brought in.
Now wars have broke out since the beginning of time,
for man with his greed has tarnished heaven along the line.
Now bringing famine and war and hate in our teachings today,
don't you think its time we stopped the greed and knelt to pray.
Heaven for someone who knows how to love,
it's given freely and they can never get enough.
Would share with others should they be in need,
even if it were their last for love is returned you see.
Our teachings please tell me,
are you proud what you have done.
Teaching such hate and greed,
to your daughters and sons.
For wars spring from our own thoughts,
form weapons by our own hands.
Where once heaven's love flowered,
hell and death now stands.
Author notes
If every family knew love as it was menat to be their would be no war no famine now bounderies for you and me 0. We as the people would own the entire world and imagine a world with such love unfurled .The bounty would be never ending there would be no waist No fighting no homeless today . Why since we have the most learning of minds chose hate over love for such a long time . We have created this world delima yours and mine

A good step in the right direction. Enough so for a revamped opinion of this on my part.
You still need to read through it for grammar.
Adam and Eve was on earth
was = were (the plural tense)
But I like it very much. Well done.

On a second read through I see the subtle assertion that Earth is in a way heaven and that our fallen nature as twisted it.
Still not what I was looking for, but definite props for the subtly. -
A few interesting points, but you never tell me anything about heaven, which just so happens to be the name of the contest. No worries though.

I've entered many contests and found that I was inspired in a way somewhat contrary to what the contest maker was thinking of. It happens and that's okay sometimes.

lessons beyond lessons
I agree 100% in everything you say. Time to start paying attention to the lessons we have to learn in life.

Thank you for this very inspiring write. Your starting is the most powerful and leads the reader towards the end of this very soulful write. This was a very nice to read on this very hectic day, where we are rushing in this maddening world. I hope this reaches to a lot of people where so much is said about love and peace, and who are deafened by the materialism of this world.
Thanks for writing and sharing.
God bless,
Love and light,
Lencio

This is my favorite stanza. It is very well written and says a lot:
"We turned our forests into barren lands,
our cities into stone.
Forgotten our children,
and left them without a home."
I like the sentiments of this stanza a lot, but it is as not "tightly" woven as the previous one I quoted:
"For our wars are from our own thoughts,
and our own two hands.
Where once was heaven,
without love death shall take a stand."
Perhaps something like this instead:
"For wars spring from our thoughts,
form weapons by our hands.
Where once heaven's love flowered,
hell and death now stand."
-
"We turned our forests into barren lands,
our cities into stone.
Forgotten our children,
and left them without a home. "
You always put up such a good fight for the children, Patty, and have made so much of hte world more aware of them, this is for sure. A pleasure to read even though the topical matter was not of joy, but your words always flow together so pleasantly that you can't help but enjoy. Best wishes in teh contest

I agree with what you are saying. We have indeed destroyed so much of this "Heaven on Earth".We have to live in the hope that we will put it right before too long, Ros
