Like a wafer upon the tongue
feelings often rest
full of promise, unresolved.
All vows are sacred to
the person they are given.
Trust ends, when it is anathema
to allow a chance for sacrilege.
* * * *
We are harried and harrowed
by a world more concerned
with profit margin than decency.
* * * *
Wraiths swirl in the night air
searching for a star or chest unattended.
Confused by mists and dews
she came through the door sparkling.
Light cascades in halos of water drops.
Laughter shakes them free
Arms frosted by the morning
Merge into embrace, lips search for wine.

i love this your writes are always so true, I know people especially in todays climate, who would rob their own gran for a five pound note without flinching, the material world has become our satan
We are prepared to put aside ourinner more decent feelings of peace and goodwill, and for what a quick fix, material goods, that have no place in Gods promissed land
bravo a nother fine write my poet friend.

Often I feel like I am no more than a reflection, or perhaps it is that I rely the impression that the world has left upon me. This one was a dance with how we have made a religion of need and all the acolytes of want. In doing this we have forgotten our dreams and more deeply the spiritual river that lives within us. When it runs dry, all the HD devices in the world will not suffice to still the inner pain.

You will find that is one of my constant themes. This plays broadly with the way we are one with the spirit and partake more than we realize. It also speaks to how we betray what is sacred to us by not realizing or being willing to see what means the world to our hearts. There is a whole lot more in them thar' simple words, but I am not telling

We search, but always come back for the blessing that truly belongs to us within.
Tomis, the mists and the 'dues"
"searching for a star or chest unattended" and frosty arms melting into an embrace... mmmm!
It's rather like the mistique of Pandora's box, only with butterflies and dreams awaiting release instead of the pestilence. Sometimes we wait too long to come in out of the cold......

Dreams are oft' betrayed and it is the stronger soul who realizes that we betray ourselves when we stop dreaming.

Sometimes I wonder if we are not twins that were seperated at birth. Your words always, always touch my very deepest thoughts. Thank you for that and for this.

You and Jin. Maybe I should just accept you are my sisters and be done with it.
I was just playing with ideas and thinking on this prompt forever. i liked the idea of a wafer and then it became sacrament which led to thoughts of trust and how thin a bound it is. My mind can circle around an idea looking at facets for the longest time. Thanks for the challange and thanks for the gold.

Right Now...
I'm going to have to think about what I see but I always look forward to what I'm going to hear from you next. Let me ponder this one a minute and I'll get back to you on the vision-smile

It is funny I am a Friend and I grew up in Catholic neighborhoods. I know how structure applied with force can stifle. Get better.

Okay, this is one of those times, when I read your work, that I'm amazed how much we actually think alike. TWO WORDS, thin & wraith. Not thin is the skinny sense. Gauzy, delicate, kind of thing.
I love this prompt. I love the ideas this poem of yours INSPIRES, in my own head.
Always a pleasure,
love,
jin

This read undulates from promise to premise,
from society to seductive personification.
I felt rinsed in revelation, though nothing
to do with religion; just the truth of what
should be seen as sacred. Blue

Wisely said. Religion often forgets that what is important is found in what is sacred, not in the rules made to keep us aware.

Your first stanza says so much about the choices we make and how life is a free spirit we enlist to do what we will with it, the end is the joy and wonderment of being fulfilled and being allowed to be yourself.

Often we try to cheat on what is important because we forget what honor means. When we remember to not treat people like objects, wonder can be achieved.

this makes me think that we need to get back to basics with our lives. Remember what really matters.

This was to raise the question of what is sacred in our lives and what we lose if we take it too lightly. It is why I chose to end it as I did, in wonder and joy.

Life should never be taken lightly, but it is a sorry state of affairs that so many do. One should hold what they have closely to your heart, making sure your loved ones know how you feel.

Sadly many allow their fears to rule and have nothing but the gruel of their own sad device to feed the winter in their soul.
