Impressions

May we be a refuge of shelter
upon life's stormy oceans,
where spirit's of faith
kindle hope's future.

For the flames of understanding
are a fervent beacon,
signalling towards
horizon's of eternity.

Open the sails
to life's zephyr's
of contemplation,
calming turbulent seas
for those wandering aimlessly
upon shifting sands.

With rudder swaying
in surety's direction,
both sand and sea
shall meet in unity's hands.

Keep the candle in your soul
burning brightly for all,
never allowing choppy seas
to dim conviction.

Author notes

Heaven and earth possess an upright spirit
That permeates through every kind and form:
Down below, it is the rivers and mountains,
And up above, it becomes the sun and stars;
In people it is called greatness of soul,
Which swells abroad to fill the azure vast.
-Wen Tianxiang 1236-1283

Good use of a nautical motif. Nice feeling of rhythmn helped to keep me reading through.

You have presented some lovely ideas: being a refuge, kindling the flames of understanding, the need for contemplation, and the strength found in surety and conviction.
Outstanding "the flames of understanding are a fervent beacon." Excellent imagery in "open the sails to life's zephyrs of contemplation." Interesting "both sand and sea shall meet in unity's hands"...both the path and the destination merging in the unity of the experience of the soul's becoming more than it was at the outset.
Very nice "keep the candle in your soul burning brightly" to help not only find one's own way, but helping others to see as well.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your poem!

I think I could find something that for me related to the situation we discussed earlier, so many could take so much from this poignant piece. You amaze me with your genius as always
