"My Lego collection..."

My Lego collection, from all those years ago,
vast and varied, sitting upon the shelf, alone,
as old and dusty as I, and as sad,
shelved with the other things gone;
Forgotten...
My Lego collection, from all those years ago,
I grasp the box then take off the lid,
and see the glory of what once was!;
The battleships, fierce and unsinkable, sailing carpet and tile,
  voyaging the vast seas of Dad's house, and beyond...
The fortresses, thick and without remorse, unscalable,
  resisting every plastic soldier advance...
The aeroplanes, swift in battle, never to be matched,
  flying over furniture and grass and more...
And all the rest, the things unthought,
and those forgot;
My Lego collection, from all those years ago,
in its lonely box, an old friend, lost,
reminding me of just what an imagination should be!,
an imagination gulped by the grains of grow'd up,
beaten back by servitude and conformity, lost...
My Lego collection, from all those years ago,
I shake it around, enjoying the sounds,
ssssssk sssssk ssssk!,
I walk to the middle of the room, I clear a space,
I sit cross-legged, I pour Mister Lego onto the floor,
like I did so many times before,
then I dig through, smiling,
going back to battles fought, glories lost,
I start building something new...

Author notes

The Child Inside- Qkumbah Zoo. Wonderfully recondite, a perhaps subliminal plug. :-) Well worth it... it's a great song, even better band, and even better video, but (apparently) there's no "h" at the end...
Just a note. Hope my entry qualifies :-)

    I loved playing with legos... able to build anything and everything the mind was capable of. Brings me back to my childish days of playing and acting. What a great poem for goin back in time ^_^
