Sunk in the City

I took my car and I drove to the city
Left in the dust was a heatwave of pity
Thought that I saw you but I'm high on the wind
I'm speeding through life drunk on whiskey and gin

I've conquered shadows and I've chased them away
Here with the neon lights, I'm caught in the fray
Not on the outskirts, but can't get in the zone
And all I know is that I can't be alone

Don't leave me on my own
Don't make me come home
Don't wanna be alone
Don't wanna come home

You didn't follow, now I'm out on the streets
I'm livin' next door to the liars and cheats
I took a gamble, now I don't like my hand
Gave up my pocket 8s and dropped to the sand

When life's a whirlwind can't help being confused
Without my soldier I've been painfully used
Was drawn to sights and sounds, but now I ask why
I wanted more, so I've been left high and dry

Don't leave my on my own
Don't make me come home
Don't wanna be alone
Don't wanna come home

There once were reasons why I had to escape
I made a choice to change my obvious fate
And yet, here I am, with destiny's clone
And all I know is that I can't be alone

Don't leave my on my own
Don't make me come home
Don't wanna be alone
Don't wanna come home

Don't leave me on my own
Don't make me come home
Don't wanna be alone...

Please tell me what you think
