and done
for all the fights that i could have never won
this is the one thing i can promise you
is that i will never give up on you
i will stand by your side
i will kiss the tears of joy and pain
from your eyes
i know the moments are more precious
than ever
but know no matter what goes on inside
your mind
they are thoughts that can be left behind
know the future lies inside your sweet and gentle
hands
i love you with my heart my life
you are my man
as we sit with your family around the table
i see the hope and the glimmer in their eyes
don't give up you still have a long ways to go
this my love i want you to know
mind over matter
regardless of what the doctors say
you are here and can make a better way
look at all the faces and the love
that is here just for you
take my poem to your heart
when you are feeling blue
know there are certain things that you can control
your peace of mind your happiness
the laughter that you bring
we are all here for you
we have been placed here for a reason
not because of anything but love
grab hold and you will know what i am thinking of
i want you to know that you mean more to us than you can possibly
imagine
hang in there don't give up
breath look at your children's faces
take it in
know your life is a wonderful work in progress and
its
about
to
begin.....
Author notes
this is for my lover who has stage 4 liver cancer
he is going to celebrate his birthday on oct 13th
life has been tentative but the miracles keep pouring in.
i want so badly for him to embrace life and all the good stuff.
he has been feeling down but never once has he complained
if this were my last poem it would be for him.
i want him to feel the love that surrounds him
i beleive in my heart that is a part of healing.
i think doctors need to take a lesson in love.

So Inspiring
As someone else living with a potentially terminal illness. This poem has brought tears to my eyes. I can feel the pain involved and how it relates to my lover and his fear of my death or my hurt, even though things are going well. This poem has allowed me to see my life through his eyes and to feel what he could possibly be feeling everyday, scared to love me for I may not be here one day. But I know I will, and so will your lover!! Please keep faith in him stand by him and don't be afraid to give him what he needs most of all.....your love!!!! -
This is a very moving piece....I wish your love tons of healing wishes.......Thank you for sharing this........

mind over matter, yes in deed! One day at a time, with positive outlooks. peace and love will cure all, doctors need to take a lesson in love for sure! He will be in my prayers.

Awww, that's so precious! I felt the emotion from the very start, but I didn't know this was going to be about someone with cancer! Your lover must have someone very special to stick with him through his treatment, judging by your poetic words. You are so sweet. You've showed this to him, right?
I hope things are going well for both of you, and yes, I agree, doctors truly need love lessons. They always act as if pain and death is normal, and though it happens everyday, they should know better.
