Shadow

Soon the world will wrap itself up, in all its rage and gloom. And we who hid from the incandescent light will find there are no shadows to hide behind. WE who once weaved our sanctuary from the threads of the night, we who comforted ourself with the fleeting nocturne will have nothing left to ourselves. And all this chaos which will be so new to you will simply be blase to us. And while this world is folding in, what was once immutable will change. All the lies that died in the light so bright will fuse with the truths, and in so melding create an unequivocal testament to the folly of the human mind. And as your lives are crashing down, it will appear that it is we who are rising up on the tide of this monstrous monsoon. What was abject has become the norm, and what was once so base to you beings so great is now the standard which not a one can achieve. And though it will seem like our lives are improving, the wise and prescient among us will know to bracce ourselves for the malevolent hurricane of animostiy which we shall soon suffer at your unholy hands. When the world is plunged into shadow there is no darkness in which to cloak ourselves, and when all have been brought level it is we who look even more pathetic. And self-disgust at our equality and our baseness will force you to rend our already beaten bodies to shreads. When all that was black has turned to gold, no one desires the luxuries of the cold. We judge you not, we condemn you not. From the moment you so decreed, we knew that our mantle was made to be broken. Knowledge of the nature of our perdition was long ago burned into our minds, and we have come to terms with the malediction of the outsider. And soon the world is folding up, releasing all its colors and hues. And we try to hide beneath the sky above, questioning what we once knew to be true. We are complacent to perish to the nocturne of shadow, whose lyrics you'll all yet come to know.

    Oooooh DAMN!!

This seriously hit the spot. I've read alot of your writing, and alot like reading my own, most of it is really good and holds a lot of soul but leaves me on the tip of satisfaction, like something was missed in the effort to make the poem more rythmatic. This was so powerful that it blew me out my headache. Awesome context. You really gave this one a wise and powerful image.

first off, it's really not a poem. second, it is incredibly awesome that someone can put into words the terrible haunting that has been watching me over my shoulder for quite a while now. the simplicity of a single human being can actually describe what we must all come to face as the true fear of mankind--- our own motality, in what could be the near future, but it seems as though you are stating the present in a more distant future. very well done!!!
